Gold can be separated into categories, Bullion Numismatic or collectable.

Bullion coins are not rare, and their value is simply priced daily by multiplying their gold content by the gold price. The price you will obtain depends if you are selling or buying. Like buying a share, it will be the bid/offer price.

Numismatic coins on the other hand are either rare or collectable coins. Numismatic gold coin prices change with the moving markets, whether something is in vogue or not.
