Rare Presentation Medal, circa 1683, possibly presented by King Charles II. Signed R Monogram on the Kings Bust for John Roettier. Obverse legend reads; CAROL.II.D.G.ANGL SCOT.FRAN.ET.HIB.REX
Reverse, Lion and Unicorn supporters presenting the Royal Arms within garter, surmounted by an ornate crowned helm which diffuses rich embellishments, legend below reads; DIEV.ET.MON.DROIT. (“God and my right”)

As written by John Evelyn, in ‘Numismata’ For such and like meals were now and then given as gratuities od respect, appendant to Chains of Gold; which puts me in mind of what was made by the present King of Sweden, in memory of his initiation; and the Honour he received from his late majesty Charles II, when he was presented with the Order of the Garter, 20 May, 1671.
